Shoopz is currently located in France, but we see ourselves as a truly international Internet startup, so that does not really matter.

Shoopz will always consist of computer science enthousiasts and coding wizards. We hope to deliver high quality and innovative products to our customers by leveraging the best Web technologies available. We will strive to build a successfull business while remaining open and respecting standards.

We will provide a free version of our shop-engine for people that are just starting out on e-commerce or just want to try it out, and charge customers that need higher control over their online store. We are not considering ad-supported revenue at this point.

We're just in the starting phase, so we're not really looking for people right now. However, we are always interested in knowing people with the right mindset. So if you are an open-source fan and passionate about programming, drop us a mail.

We are big believers of open-source development. Thus our engine is built on a 100% open-source environment. We are confident that it provides a stable, robust and powerful platform.

For our shop engine, we're running the fantastic Grails web framework coupled with the Prototype JavaScript library. Underneath, our operating system of choice is Gentoo Linux. Apart from that, we are using too many great software tools to list them all (Apache Tomcat, MySQL, Eclipse, Gimp, Python...).

Yes - we're very grateful that the open-source community built the tools that allow our business to run, and we do intend to give back. Our lead developer is an active developer on the Gentoo Linux distribution for example. In the future, we may also open the code for some of our products.

Of course - we have total control over our servers. Every piece of software is configured (even compiled :) by ourselves. We assume full responsibility for our entire software stack.

Maybe, but it's not one of our top priorities. IE 6 is an aging browser and is unable to support some of the modern features of Shoopz. We hope people will quickly update to better browsers - we recommend Firefox.
